I think you are quite correct. I wouldn’t be surprised to find some combination of transition surgeon’s professional association and PR firm were shown to be behind a social media marketing push for trans starting in 2016 or so. Horrified and disgusted but not surprised.
Hi Lorenzo, I love your writings they all make a nice summation of the contemporary period tempered with anthropological and historical significance.
Here is a link to my summation of the last three years, although it is rather lengthy and I realise the Covid paradigm more than likely will be encyclopaedic. However, I don't have the time or expertise to explore all the the multidisciplinary aspects of the formula. And as I am not an AI my summation will be incomplete. I think I have captured some pertinent features, processes and explored some of the concepts and categories of the insanity that was all pervasive and come to some general ideas as to what occurred and who was involved in the design. Here is a link to my summation of the last 3 years. https://emancipator1.substack.com/p/which-should-be-more-important-personal
Your feedback would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.
While I agree with much of your discussion of the bizarre madness of the pandemic response, your criticism of “neoliberalism” misfires. First, the 1945-1973 social democratic policy regime was clearly running out of puff (i.e. problems it was not suited to dealing with were piling up).
Hence the neoliberal turn, which was often pursued by social democratic governments so as to create a more financially sustainable welfare state. The neoliberal turn outside the West also saw the largest movement out of poverty in human history. That policy regime is now in turn running out of puff as problems it is not suited to dealing with are piling up.
Due to the failures of our universities, there is a lack of a serious alternative. (And no, the Mont Pelerin society did not want to replace the state with the market: many of them were admirers of the Austro-German ordo-liberals.)
Second, the collapse in the media (which did not become serious until 2014-16) is not due to de-regulation 30-35 years earlier (which mostly just moved the situation back to a more C19th/early C20th model). It was due to the internet destroying the previous business model by destroying their ad revenue base. Hence, the “go broke, go woke” media phenomena that Jessie Singal and others point to. Replacing reporting-first journalists with cheaper graduates socialised into Post-Enlightenment Progressivism (“wokery”) at university.
Third, so much of this is about the pathologies of bureaucracy. Our societies have become massively more bureaucratised (not a particularly “neoliberal” phenomena). Bureaucracies naturally hoard authority. Trying to explain the pandemic responses by reference to the evidence is a fool’s game. Explaining it as bureaucracies hoarding authority works much better. Though, they were more able to do that because of the shift to the “Pravda” media model (discussed in the next essay) that the media ad revenue collapse has done so much to facilitate.
Social construction by humanity is made by adapting to the cultural and structural systems of society.
In human society and interactions, this has been generally by society, a sensible construction made by pragmatic design. The current cultural and identity gender narrative is not pragmatic but ideological. As we all know ideologies are intrinsically deceitful and predominantly are directed by dogma that holds one foot in fantasy with the other holding tentatively in reality. The doctrine is more often than not venomous and cult like in nature. This unfortunately when ideologies have a sponsor that monopolises the media tend to propagate in a memetic transfer of ideas that hold no substance and are designed to accommodate a wider perspective that facilitates the furtherance of the ideology.
Here is the money quote, IMO:
“...as transition means buying hormones for life and the surgeries can be profitable.”
So spot on.
I see what you did there...

1.3 million per person from what I've seen, over their lifetime.
An unsustainable delusion.
They’re sickos, aren’t they.
Those who engineered this, yes.

I would also recommend Martin Gurri’s recent essay. https://www.discoursemagazine.com/culture-and-society/2023/01/18/the-fifth-wave-twittermania/
Thanks for your reply, I'll have a look at this essay by Martin Gurri.
Our discussion led to the subject of my companion post to the Pravda Model essay.

Very nicely put, thank you.
